Why do you recommended using the app from 30 weeks?

Due to the small size of your baby, it may be very difficult to hear the sounds in your uterus early on. For best results, we recommend using Tiny Tickers from 30 weeks onwards.

What should my baby's ticker sound like?

Baby's ticker sounds like deep waves rising and falling. A baby's ticker beats about twice as fast as an adult.

I don’t hear anything. How do I know if I am using the app correctly?

The best way to find out if you're using the app correctly is to listen to your own ticker first. Once you hear your own, you can start listening to your baby.

I can't hear my own ticker?

There may be a number of reasons. Common reasons include:

  • You forgot to take your phone cover / case off.
    Take your phone out of its case. This is essential to make proper contact with your bare skin. If your phone case is on, the case will create an air barrier that will prevent you from hearing properly.

  • You may need to enable your microphone.
    Open your 'Settings' app, go to 'Privacy', then 'Microphone' to check that you have enabled the microphone for this app.

  • There may be too much background noise.
    Background noise (TV, talking etc) will interfere with your microphone. Please find a quiet room eg: Your bedroom or bathroom.

  • Your volume tmay not be at the maximum.
    Increase volume to the maximum for best results.

  • You may not be holding your device correctly.
    Your device should be held at an angle on your BARE skin, above your heart. Make sure that there are no clothes in the way. The microphone is at the bottom on the left side. The speaker is at the bottom on the right side. Always place the bottom left side in full contact with your bare skin, leaving the right side (the speaker) exposed. If you don’t leave the speaker (the right side) exposed, you will not hear anything.

  • Make sure that you're not sliding your phone across your skin.
    Don't slide your phone across your skin. Place the bottom left side of your phone above your heart on your bare skin. Listen for rhythmic sounds for at least 10 seconds before trying another position on your chest, as it takes time for the sound to calibrate.

I can't hear my own ticker?

There may be a number of reasons. Firstly, please listen to your own ticker to get used to using the app. If you're still having trouble, please refer to the common reasons below:

  • You forgot to take your phone cover / case off.

    To find your baby's ticker make sure that you're not sliding your phone across your abdomen. Place the bottom left side of your phone to the bare skin of the abdomen. Listen for rhythmic sounds for at least 10 seconds before trying another position, as it takes time for the sound to calibrate.

  • Keep in mind your baby's positioning.
    Remember, babies move. At times you may not be able to hear your baby due to his / her positioning. This is normal. Simply try another position on the abdomen or try again later.

  • Why turn on airplane mode?
    Your safety and your baby's safety is important to us. We recommend turning on airplane mode on. Airplane mode stops your device from creating cellular / Wi-Fi waves near your baby. To turn Airplane mode on, open your 'Settings' app. You'll see airplane mode at the top. Simply turn it on and it will turn green. You should also double check that the WIFI is turned off.
